A $500 per person deposit is required for your reservation/application to be considered complete. Please be aware that there is a limited number of spaces available for this tour, and your completed application with deposit secures your space.

Your completed application and deposit will secure your place on the trip. Payment arrangements are available and customizable for each participant. You may also pay the full amount of your trip prior to scheduled dates.

Cancellations will incur the following penalties:

  • From time of deposit to December 31, 2026: $250 per person cancellation fee
  • January 1, 2027 to April 30, 2027: 50% refundable
  • May 1, 2027 through time of departure: Non-Refundable

A copy of your passport will be required with your application and deposit. If you do not have a valid passport, please indicate on your application that you are in the process of obtaining one. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy must have a valid U.S. passport. Italy is part of the Schengen Area, and your passport should:

  • Be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area.
  • Have been issued within the previous 10 years.
  • Be in good condition and not previously reported lost or stolen.
  • Ideally have at least two blank pages available.

U.S. citizens can generally visit Italy and other Schengen countries for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism or business without obtaining a visa.

Our recommendation: Even though the official requirement is three months beyond departure, traveling with at least six months of passport validity is a good precaution.

U.S. travelers visiting Italy do not need a tourist visa for stays up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

The EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES) is already operational. U.S. travelers do not apply or pay for EES in advance. At the external Schengen border, travelers may have their passport details, facial image and fingerprints recorded electronically.

ETIAS, the European Travel Information and Authorization System, is different. U.S. citizens will need an ETIAS authorization once the system launches, but ETIAS is not currently operational. It is scheduled to begin in the last quarter of 2026, with the exact date still to be announced.

Because this is changing, passengers traveling later in 2026 should recheck the requirement shortly before departure.

You should fly into Malta International Airport (MLA) and fly out of Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO).

Good options include Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines, and Italy’s flagship carrier ITA Airways. European carriers such as Lufthansa, Air France and British Airways can also be good choices, although itineraries may involve a connection.

All ground transportation is included in your tour cost. Your Tour Guide will meet you at a prearranged location at the terminal and you will be taken to your hotel. There is a Shabbat Service and Dinner on Friday evening so we suggest arriving in the afternoon if possible.

To protect your investment and cover unforeseen expenses, we HIGHLY suggest you purchase a Comprehensive Travel Insurance policy that includes coverage for cancellation, interruption, disruption, unexpected emergencies, and Acts of God such as weather conditions. Policies can be purchased through Travel Guard or TravelX.

There are no specific immunizations or medications that are recommended or required for travel to Italy, but you are welcome to connect with your primary care physician regarding their recommendations for you individually.

We will provide a list of recommended items and clothing to all trip participants before our tour. Please plan to bring comfortable shoes or sneakers, as there will be a lot of walking.

Most activities will include walking so participants will be walking approximately 2-3 miles per day. We would recommend wearing comfortable shoes or sneakers each day. Most walks will be lightly to moderately strenuous and there will be breaks throughout the day as you travel to and from sites. Please keep in mind that walks can typically include steps and uneven terrain. Some sites could be difficult to fully experience if there are physical disabilities with walking long distances or problems with the uneven terrain.

Tap water is safe to drink in Italy, but bottled water is also available for purchase.  In many cities you’ll also find public drinking fountains. At restaurants, don’t be surprised if you’re asked whether you want still (“naturale”) or sparkling (“frizzante”) bottled water. Unlike in the U.S., complimentary glasses of tap water are not necessarily the default restaurant experience.

Yes. Wi-Fi is widely available throughout Italy at hotels, restaurants, cafés, airports, train stations and many attractions. Italy also has a national network of free public Wi-Fi hotspots known as Piazza Wi-Fi Italia.

Please check with your phone service provider to determine if you will need to purchase an international plan to use your phone in country.

Italy uses the euro (€ / EUR), widely accepted for all transactions. It is advisable to carry some cash in euros, (we advise 400 Euro per person) especially in remote areas with limited card acceptance. For better rates, it’s recommended to avoid airport counters and use ATMs or local banks. Stay informed about fluctuating exchange rates using reliable currency exchange websites like http://www.xe.com/. The Euro comes in various denominations, making transactions easy. Importing/exporting cash or gold for travelers from/to other EU Member States is unrestricted, but sums exceeding €10,000 must be declared at Customs.

Additionally, major banks in Italy provide foreign currency exchange services, ensuring better value when you check the daily rates.

Italy has a Value Added Tax (VAT), called IVA in Italian, which is included in the price of many goods and services. Travelers who live outside the EU may qualify for a VAT refund on eligible merchandise purchased during their trip and taken out of the EU in their personal luggage. Certain rules apply, including documentation requirements and taking the goods out of the EU within the required period.

When making a significant purchase, ask the retailer: “Do you offer Tax Free Shopping?”

You’ll generally need to show your passport or provide passport information. Keep your receipts and VAT documents and allow extra time at your final EU departure airport to complete the required customs/refund process.

Italy uses Type C electrical plugs, also known as Europlugs, and the standard voltage is 230 volts at 50 hertz. You’ll need a travel adapter to use your personal electrical appliances safely in Italy.
